Murderer to be sentenced for killing great grandfather, 94, in his Wolverhampton home
Paul Topham is set to be sentenced today for the murder of 94-year-old pensioner Harold Monk in his Wolverhampton home.
After a week long trial at Wolverhampton Crown Court a jury decided 45-year-old burglar Topham is a murderer.
The self-confessed drug addict and thief had admitted killing Mr Monk during a botched burglary in October last year but spent two days on the stand trying to convince the jury he was not a murderer.

Mr Monk was a great grandfather who lived alone and was battered by Topham. He died 24 hours later in hospital from his injuries.

Justice Michael Chambers KC is expected to sentence Topham, originally from Wolverhampton, to life imprisonment.
Topham stole Mr Monk's house key whilst visiting his mother at Inglewood Court, Wolverhampton.
He then broke into his house a few days later and was caught by Mr Monk who he then attacked.
He is expected to be sentenced at Wolverhampton Crown Court today.
