Police have arrested a boy on suspicion of attempted murder after a teen was stabbed in Stourport on carnival day
A 17-year-old boy has been arrested following a stabbing in Stourport last night (Saturday, September 6).
The incident occurred at around 9pm in Severn Meadows close to the public toilets as a carnival was underway.
West Mercia Police said that the boy has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is currently in custody as enquiries continue.
The victim, aged 17, sustained stab wounds that are not thought to be life threatening or life changing.
Detective Inspector Edward Jones said: “We know many families would have been out enjoying the carnival in Stourport yesterday, and this will be a concerning incident to many.
“Please be reassured we are carrying out a full and thorough investigation and a suspect is in custody.
“Our communities can expect to see any increased police presence in Stourport as we conduct our enquiries.
“We know the area was busy last night, and we would urge anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have any information, no matter how small, to help with our investigation to please get in touch.”
