It is alleged that  Betsy's x Little Dessert Shop  in Bore Street is not meeting three of the four licensing objectives: prevention of crime and disorder, public safety and prevention of public nuisance. The request for a review was received by Lichfield District Council on 23 July.

The committee is set to meet on Monday, 8 September, if the recommendation is taken forward it would restrict the opening hours of the business to 5am to 11pm. Currently the venue has permission to offer late night refreshment on Friday and Saturday until 2am from a takeaway hatch.

The committee could decide to do nothing, issue a warning, suspend the licence or change the licence conditions. The exact details of the complaint which prompted the hearing to take place have not been publicly made available.

Staffordshire Police have also made a representation in support of the complaint made by Environmental Health. However, like the original review request details are not publicly available.

The reason given for confidentiality is given as “Information in respect of which a claim to legal professional privilege could be maintained in legal proceedings.”

In a public report to councillors on the committee it states that the grounds for review are persistent breaches in opening hours despite warning, the unlawful conversion of part of the premises into living accommodation and failing to keep the premises free from litter.
