The Environment Agency issued a flood warning this evening (Wednesday).

The warning stated: "River levels have risen at the Bushbury Wychall Drive river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall.

"Consequently, flooding of property is possible this afternoon and evening, September 3.. The Waterhead Brook is a reactive catchment so water levels respond very rapidly to rainfall, but also can recede quickly."

The Agency added: "Flooding could affect properties along Abbeyfield Road, Wolverhampton. Further rainfall is forecast over the next 24 hours. We are closely monitoring the situation.

"Our incident response staff are actively checking river levels and the weather forecast. Please avoid contact with flood water and call 999 if in immediate danger. This message will be updated by 12:00 on 04/09/2025, or as the situation changes."
