Chimney blaze on Staffordshire-Walsall border blamed on log burner prompting safety warning
Firefighters were called out to douse a chimney blaze at a property on the Staffordshire-Walsall border.
The incident which was blamed on a faulty log burner happened at an address in Chester Road near Aldridge.
It was put out by Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service which said the public should check chimneys and burners before lighting fires in the home as the temperatures across begin to drop in autumn.
The service has put out five chimney fires across Staffordshire since April.

The brigade's prevent officer Ian Read said: “Our crews attend numerous chimney fires each year, most of which are preventable if chimneys are kept clean and safe.
“As the cooler months approach and people start to think about lighting the fire, I would remind people that chimneys always need to be swept before they are lit for the first time in a while.
“Residents should always get regular inspections, ensure wood is completely dry before use and stored away from naked flames. Chimneys can become blocked if poor quality fuel is used, leading to a build-up of carbon monoxide.”
Chimney Fire Safety Week is running unto September 7 and the service said as summer comes to an end residents might start to think about lighting log burners and fires to warm the home.
The incident near Aldridge happened on April 2.
