The boy was told to hand over jewellery; however, the would-be thief ended up leaving empty-handed.

Acting on information, officers later arrested a 28-year-old man on suspicion of attempted robbery, and he has since been released on bail pending further investigation.

A force spokesperson said: "We have been unable to identify the boy who was approached, and we want to check he is ok. We also want to obtain more information about what happened.

"We'd ask him, or his family, to contact us as soon as possible via Live Chat on our website or by calling 101. Please then quote 20/357125/25."
