Man, 19, charged with attempted murder following stabbing near Great Barr

West Midlands Police have charged Reiaz Brown, 19, from Oldbury, with attempted murder following a knife incident on Middlemist Grove, Hamstead, near Great Barr, on Saturday morning.

It comes after a man in his 20s was stabbed just after 1.45am on August 30, leaving him in hospital in a critical condition.

An 18-year-old man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and a 20-year-old man arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender have both been bailed pending further enquiries.

Brown is due to appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates' Court today.

A force spokesperson said: "We are continuing to appeal for information about the incident, and ask anyone who has not yet got in touch with us to call 101 quoting log 335 of 30 August.

"You can also report information completely anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."

Residents described the incident as 'completely out of the ordinary' for the area, with one adding that they 'hadn't seen an incident like this' in the 20 years they had lived there.
