Aimee Betro, America

American-born would-be assassin, Aimee Betro, 45, from America, was jailed for 30 years on August 21 after travelling from her home in the United States to Birmingham to carry out a targeted killing on a businessman in the city.
The failed killing saw Betro attempt to shoot the man dead at point-blank range outside of his Birmingham home; however, her gun jammed, and she fled the scene.
Betro returned a few hours later and fired three shots through the target's bedroom window - again missing her mark.
She then fled the country and went on the run for five years before being extradited from Armenia, more than 2,000 miles away from the scene of the crime.
Carl Chapman, Birmingham

Carl Chapman, aged 61, from Birmingham, was jailed for 17 years on August 15, for non-recent sex offences.
The offences began in 1996 when Chapman targeted a 9-year-old girl and carried on until 2004, when she was 16.
During the period, Chapman would bribe the girl and even threaten her family.
The offender was brought to justice when the girl bravely came forward to report the non-recent crimes which she had been subjected to for nearly 10 years.
Emma Green, Stourbridge.

Emma Green, 35, from Stourbridge, was jailed for three years on Friday, August 15, after attacking and robbing an elderly man in Stourbridge.
In the incident, Green approached the man in the town centre on March 12, asking him for directions, change, and asking if she could use his phone.
She then followed the man into Prospect Hill, where she grabbed his coat before assaulting him and stealing a significant sum of cash, as well as several personal items.
