Suspected drug dealer arrested after high speed police chase through Sandwell

An alleged drug dealer has been arrested after leading police on a high speed chase through Sandwell.

The man was spotted in Cradley Heath at 10pm last night (Thursday) in a suspicious vehicle.

A Sandwell Police spokesman said: "Out on patrol in Cradley Heath, Sandwell, last night (Thursday), just before 10pm, our traffic officers spotted a suspicious vehicle.

"Instructing the driver to stop, the BMW then sped off and reached speeds of up to 80mph in a 20mph zone, and was seen being driven on the wrong side of the road."

The spokesman added: "The car was also seen to be driven through red lights and on pavements. 

"After fleeing the car and leading officers on a foot chase, a man, aged 49, was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop, dangerous driving, having no insurance, or licence, and possession with intent to supply Class A."

Officers found drugs during a search.

The spokesman added: "Following a search, over 20 wraps of drugs were found and a large amount of cash. He remains in custody while our enquiries continue."
