West Midlands Police said the charges come as a driver was threatened with a weapon as their car was stolen in Anderson Road, Tipton, on 31 July.

Eight days later a man and woman were threatened with a knife as a mobile phone was taken in King Street, Dudley, on 8 August.

Muhammad Hassan has now been charged with both offences and also the theft of a vehicle in Wellington Road, Dudley, on 28 July.

The 28-year-old, of no fixed address, was remanded to appear before Wolverhampton Magistrates Court today (August 27).

A WMP spokesperson said: "We're continuing our work to reduce robbery and catch any involved as part of Operation Ruby."
