Wombourne Recycling Centre blaze tackled by fire crews
Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service tackled a fire at Wombourne Recycling Centre last night (Friday).
Staffordshire Fire Service posted on social media at 9.38pm: "We have three crews in attendance at Wombourne Recycling Centre on Botterham Lane in Swindon dealing with a fire.
"Please keep doors and windows closed if you are being affected by the smoke."
The recycling centre has been hit by vandalism in recent months with Staffordshire County Council closing the facility in July due to problems at the site.
Last year the site was closed completely due to problems with subsidence on the approach road to the recycling centre.
Staffordshire Country Council, which runs the facility, have yet to release a statement about the severity of the fire damage caused at the recycling centre.
