'This isn't over' - Cannock Chase Theatre Trust issues new statement after report rules it can not run Prince of Wales Theatre
Campaigners fighting to run Cannock's Prince of Wales Theatre have declared "this is not over" ahead of a crucial vote in two weeks.
Cannock District Council's cabinet are set to vote on the beloved theatre's future on September 4.
An independent report to the council recently ruled out the prospect of Cannock Chase Theatre Trust running the theatre in the future.
There was widespread disbelief, sadness and outrage in thespian and community circles when closure plans were revealed.
The Cannock Chase Theatre Trust issued a statement yesterday (Friday) about the fight back.
They said: "This isn't over. Not even close. The curtain hasn't fallen. Your voice still matters.

"Thank you to everyone who's shared our story, contacted councillors, and shown that the Prince of Wales Theatre matters to this community. Your response has been overwhelming. Here's where we stand: We're continuing discussions with the council - a positive step forward.
"Following independent advice, we're holding back from publishing our documents just yet. We want to give dialogue every chance to succeed. Next week, we're meeting with the council to present our detailed response to the SLC report.
"We're walking into that room armed with facts, evidence, and the weight of your support behind us. What happens next? The council cabinet still votes on September 4th. After that decision, we'll take advice on what can be shared publicly."
The trust urged people to carrying on fighting for the theatre.
They said: "Keep going. Keep contacting councillors. Keep sharing memories. Keep showing that Cannock won't accept becoming a cultural desert. Your voices are being heard - we know because councillors are asking questions they weren't asking before.
"We're volunteers running on determination and coffee, working every hour we can to bring the Prince of Wales into community ownership. This isn't over. Not even close. The curtain hasn't fallen. Your voice still matters. September 4th is still coming.
"Stand with us. We're standing for you."
