West Midlands Police's Bordesley Green Neighbourhood Team acted on concerns from the community about the 7 Star Grocery Store on Coventry Road.

A joint operation with Birmingham Trading Standards was carried out in June and a subsequent follow up visit saw the cannisters recovered.

The team applied for and were successfully granted a three month closure order, which means anyone who enters the shop risks being fined, arrested, or even sent to prison. The order lasts until 19 November.

It follows another closure order, granted earlier this year, against a separate store on Coventry Road.

Sergeant Leon Allen, from the Bordesley Green Neighbourhood Team, said: “We are listening to the community and grateful to residents for reporting their concerns.

“Our team is committed to tackling the supply of drugs and associated disorder they bring, and we will be carrying out further operations throughout the year.

“If you do have any information or concerns, please speak to a local officer or call us on 101.”
