Halesowen man charged with manslaughter of father who died a year after being blinded by attack

A man who attacked a father in a pub in 2022, leaving him brain damaged and blind, has denied causing his death in 2023.

Daniel Sedgley attacked his victim outside the Lighthouse pub in Cradley Heath on October 8, 2022, The pair left the pub at the same time and Sedgley then attacked him, headbutting him three times.

His victim suffered brain damage after being thrown 'around like rag doll' and required round-the-clock care after the attack.

Sedgley was sentenced to 20 months' imprisonment in September 2022 after pleading guilty to wounding or inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent.
