A total of 226 arrests were made = including 82 people held on suspicion of domestic abuse, seven for robbery, eight for burglary and six for vehicle crime.

In Solihull, the WMP dog unit assisted officers in arresting a suspected burglar. PD Ugo found the man hiding in bushes in Old Lode Lane, where he was detained and taken into custody.

Police say they are now making more arrests than ever, and since 2022 we have opened three more custody blocks to cope with the demand.

A spokesman said: "Over the last two years, crime has continued to fall in our communities since we introduced a local operating model to bring a better spread of officers, detectives and specialist staff across the force delivering an improved service.

"Total crime across the West Midlands dropped by almost 20,000 offences (more than six per cent) over the last year (July 2024 to June 2025) alone compared with the previous 12 months.

"There have been nearly 2,000 fewer victims of domestic abuse, almost 1,500 fewer robberies and over 3,800 fewer burglaries compared to last year. Knifepoint robberies have fallen by 18% in the last year with nearly 1,500 fewer robberies and 1,490 fewer knife crime offences.

"And we answered calls more quickly than any other police force in the country last month – with an average time to answer of just two seconds.

"We received 66,520 emergency 999 calls last month, answered on average in two seconds.

"Our teams are working 24/7, every day of the year, across the West Midlands to keep you safe and arrest those believed to be linked to crime.
