Popular Quarry Bank footballer Ryan was stabbed to death eight years ago in Chicago's nightclub on Stourbridge High Street.

After the man who admitted killing Ryan was cleared of murder and manslaughter, the West Midlands Police investigation came under fire from family and friends.

West Yorkshire Police independently reviewed the investigation and made 18 recommendations.

In July 2023, West Midlands Police announced they were reopnening the investigation after accepting the recommendations. However, there has not been an update since.

On Saturday, hundreds of bikers and spectators turned out for the Ride for Ryan from Cradley to Bridgnorth

Former Stourbridge MP Suzanne Webb, who raised Ryan's case in Parliament, told campaigners the lack of updates was not a problem.

She told the Express & Star: "Some of the recommendations about the original investigation concerned rushing proceedings. We have been assured every stone will not be left unturned.

"These things take time and we have no concerns how long this is taking, what is most important is to get it right. I am confident progress is being made concerning the investigation and when the time is right I'm sure we will be told of any new developments."

Saturday's procession of bikers stopped at the spot where Ryan died after sustaining a single stab wound to the chest.
