Sat Sherwani, also known as Sat Khan, claimed the Conservatives had 'abandoned its values' when he defected to Reform UK on Monday.

Until last month he was the chairman of Dudley Conservative Association and did not seek re-election and he also resigned as deputy chairman of the Black Country Conservatives.

A Dudley Conservative source told the Express & Star there were not any tears shed in the party over the latest defection.

He said:  "Satwat ceased being the Chairman of Dudley Conservatives after a period of complete inactivity within the party, contributing virtually nothing since well before the Brockmoor and Pensnett by-election.
