Burglar guilty of murdering 94-year-old Wolverhampton man in his bedroom
The jury took one hour and 32 minutes to convict Paul Topham of murdering Wolverhampton pensioner Harold Monk.
After a week long trial at Wolverhampton Crown Court the jury decided 45-year-old burglar Topham is a murderer.
In front of a packed public gallery full of Harold Monk's family and friends the jury forewoman simply said: "Yes," when asked if they had found the defendant guilty. Topham said nothing when found guilty.
The self-confessed drug addict and thief had admitted killing Mr Monk during a botched burglary in October last year but spent two days on the stand trying to convince the jury he was not a murderer.
