Police clampdown on dangerous delivery bikes in Stafford

Police have clamped down on delivery drivers in Stafford who have been driving dangerous electric bikes.

Concerned residents worried about if delivery bikes are roadworthy contacted Staffordshire Police about the problem.

Staffordshire Road Traffic Team posted on social media: "Working in the Stafford area today, we are looking into community concerns around electric bikes being used for deliveries.

"These modified bikes are not insured, and the rider has no licence, therefore should not be on the road. Bike seized and rider reported." 

The team posted a picture of a dangerous bike they impounded on the streets of Stafford.

The team posted: "Stafford area , this delivery moped was in shockingly bad condition, the exhaust was holding on by a few threads and had snapped from it's mountings. 

"The rider will have to make the repairs before this is roadworthy again! Reported to court and vehicle prohibited."
