Two men broke into a house in Loyns Close shortly before 11pm on 20 July.

The pair were interrupted and went to leave the address before returning and assaulting the elderly occupant of the house.

Having done that they re-entered the house and stole a handbag with valuables before leaving.

Officers from West Midland Police's Neighbourhood Crime Team are investigating and appealing for information from anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen what happened.

Detective Sergeant Mark Heard said: "This was a vile attack and we are determined to find those responsible.

"Everyone has the right to feel safe in their own home and we are calling upon anyone who knows who might have been involved to come forward, do the right thing and tell us what you know.

"We especially want to hear from anyone who might have doorbell or dashcam footage from the surrounding area around the time the offence took place."

"If you have any information which could help with the  investigation, call 101 quoting crime number 20/316669/25."
