Shotgun and two machetes recovered and two arrested after 'man threatened by armed group' in Birmingham

Two men have been arrested after police responded to reports of a man being threatened by an armed group in Birmingham.

West Midlands Police were called to the scene of Somerville Road, Birmingham, at around 4pm on Sunday, to reports that a man had been threatened by a group of armed men with weapons 

On arrival, officers discovered that the man had been hurt during the disorder at the scene; however, he was found to have only suffered minor injuries and nothing was taken from him. 

Officers began enquiries into the events, and the investigation led them to Fourth Avenue, Bordesley Green. 

Armed officers attended and searched a property at the address, where they found a live and viable shotgun. 

A vehicle that was also linked to the investigation was searched and resulted in the seizure of two machetes.

Two men, aged 19 and 23, were arrested and remain in custody today, being questioned on suspicion of assault with intent to commit robbery.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "Our investigation is continuing, and we would like to hear from anyone who saw what happened on Somerville Road, or who has any footage which may help our enquiries.
