The delicious Birmingham and Black Country burger restaurants shortlisted for prestigious British food awards

Takeaways from across the Black Country have been shortlisted for a prestigious celebration of burgers and the people who make them and cook them.

The British Burger Awards are the first annual awards which celebrate burgers and the burger scene across the United Kingdom.

Run by Oceanic Awards and sponsored by QSR Connect, the awards will gather independent operators, high street chains, and street food pioneers to compete for the coveted title of the UK’s best burger, with region awards also being given out at the awards ceremony on September 8 at the Double Tree by Hilton in Stoke-on-Trent.

Four burger bars and takeaways from the Black Country have been shortlisted in the Best of West Midlands category and one in Birmingham. The burger venues are:

  1. Grill N Shake in Oldbury 

  2. Jo's Burgers and Shakes in Smethwick 

  3. Keebo burgers in Tipton 

  4. Stourburger in Stourbridge 

  5. Burger-Me-Up in Birmingham

There are also contenders from the region in other categories, with Build A Burga from Brierley Hill shortlisted in the Best Street Food Burger Vendor category alongside Herbert's Yard from Birmingham.

Birmingham itself had its own specific category, Best of Birmingham, with Burger-Me-Up, HANBAO, BRGR BOX, Original Patty Men, Jo's Burgers and Shakes, Flamin' Patties, Boo, Burgershack, ME YOU / Desserts & Burgers and Stack Shack all shortlisted.

Stack Shack was also shortlisted for Best Independent Burger Joint, while Vegan Munch UK was shortlisted in the Best Veg/ Vegan Burger Restaurant category and HANBAO and Original Patty Men were on the shortlist for Best Customer Experience (Burger Venue).
