The grounds of Hollybush Garden Centre in Shareshill will be the setting for Dubs at the Bush, a one-day mini-festival which celebrates VW campers, vans and cars and the people who drive them, this Sunday (July 20), starting at 10.15am.

Across the festival, there will be VW owners showing off more than 50 vehicles, which range from ancient camper vans to modern VWs, as well as a marketplace, roaming cosplayers from Central Legion dressed as superheroes, a bouncy castle, face painter, a raffle and a set of prizes for the best cars, vans and campers on site.

The event, which has been running for three years, has been organised by WVVW, a Wolverhampton-based Volkswagen owners group and is being run to raise funds for When You Wish Upon a Star, a charity which helps wishes come true for children with life-threatening illnesses.

Organiser Lee Ashbourne said it was a great opportunity for VW fanatics to get together and to raise funds for what he described as a fantastic charity.

He said: "Every penny raised goes to When You Wish Upon a Star, who we've already raised more than £7,000 for over the years as they do an amazing job.

"They grant wishes that are a bit more down to earth than a fortnight in Florida, such as giving children the chance to spend a day at a theme park or something simple.

"It's that little thing which means everything to them and that's what we like about them."

Mr Ashbourne said the event was a lot of work to put on, but it was worth it for the help it provided the charity, as well as being given the space for free by Hollybush Garden Centre, and said it made him happy to be able to put on such an event.

He said: "It just makes me happy to do this every year as I like helping people and knowing that the money we raise is going to such a fantastic cause makes it entirely worthwhile.

"We started this three years ago because one of our members had a lot to do with the charity, as did her daughter, and they suggested we do something for it, so it's been wonderful to support it and also put on a great day out for everyone."
