Manny Singh Kang will be taking to the saddle of an exercise bike at 2pm on Friday, August 29 and will aim to not stop pedalling until 2pm the next day, a full day of cycling on the spot.

The challenge, which will take place outside the Ambika Paul Building of Wolverhampton University, is the latest in a line of gruelling challenges undertaken by the 52-year-old to help raise much-needed funds for Dementia UK.

Over the past few years, Mr Singh Kang has walked from Wolverhampton to West London, from Wolverhampton to Newcastle, competed in several London Marathons and walked for 48 hours doing laps of Molineux Stadium.

He said that while this challenge would tougher in some ways due to having to not being able to stop, he was prepared for the challenges ahead.

He said: "I'll be attempting to ride on an exercise bike in a static position for 24 hours and I'm not allowed to stop for any reason, so no toilet breaks or anything like that, and the pedals have to keep turning for 24 hours.

"Over the years, I think that with all the challenges I've done, you sort of learn about your body, about the nutrition you need, the point when you might start struggling and that's where my confidence in this comes from.

"It'll be a challenge, obviously, and it's a step into the unknown compared to the other challenges I've done, but I'm looking forward to it and I'll be doing it in an outside location in a marquee with a big countdown timer and, hopefully, livestreamed as well."

Mr Singh Kang said that he had enjoyed great support from Wolverhampton University, with the university offering supplies and access to facilities, and was aiming to finish at 2pm, an hour ahead of the Wolves vs Everton game at Molineux.

He said that unlike other challenges, he was going it alone and not having another bike next to him, but was always thankful for the support he got and for the donations people made to Dementia UK.

He said: "I did think about having a second bike and selling slots for people to join in, but I find on these challenges that I need to switch off to focus and so it will be a lone challenge this time around.

"However, I always appreciate the support and I hope that people can come and visit, donate, shout encouragement, cheer or even just stand in shock if they want to.

"This, as with the others, will be for Dementia UK, who I have been an ambassador for since 2018 and so many fans have come to me and told me their personal stories and joined in with the fundraising, so we're going to continue to focus on that charity and help them."
