Broken-down tram and signalling issue causes disruption on West Midlands Metro network
Metro passengers were left facing delays and diversions on two parts of the network today (July 15) after a tram broke down and there was an issue with traffic signals.
In Wolverhampton, services were terminating at Priestfield at around 6.37pm due to a traffic signal issue at The Royal, with Metro tickets being accepted on the 79 bus service between Wolverhampton bus station and Priestfield.
A spokesman for National Express West Midlands said: "Due to a traffic signal issue at The Royal, we are currently accepting West Midlands Metro tickets on service 79 between Wolverhampton and Priestfield."
Further up the line, services were affected by a broken-down tram on the line near Black Lake station, with trams unable to run between Black Lake and West Bromwich Central from just after 6.25pm until 6.50pm.
Metro tickets were being accepted between Wednesbury and West Bromwich, while trams were able to run from Black Lake towards Wolverhampton and from West Bromwich towards Edgbaston Village.
A spokesman for West Midlands Metro said: "Due to a broken-down tram, trams are unable to run between Black Lake and West Bromwich Central.
"Trams are running between Black Lake and Wolverhampton Station and between West Bromwich Central and Edgbaston Village.
"Tickets accepted on National Express West Midlands 74 bus between Wednesbury and West Bromwich."
