Woman assaulted on train near Cannock following late-night dispute between passengers

A woman was assaulted by another female during a row between passengers on a train near Cannock.

Officers launched an investigation relating the incident which happened at around 11.55pm on Saturday May 3  involving a 26-year-old woman who was travelling on a train with a group. British Transport Police said a man known to the group became involved in a dispute with another passenger.

The force said a woman known to this passenger then began shouting at the group about the man's behaviour. She then lunged at the 26-year-old woman and attempted to grab her throat before further assaulting her and other passengers then intervened.

When the train stopped at Landywood Railway Station all the parties alighted.

As a result the Staffordshire based officers investigating what exactly happened have today released this image of a woman in connection with the matter. Officers believe she may have information which could help their investigation.
