West Midlands Metro put out a message at 4.50pm to advise passengers that due to a collision on the A41 Bilston Road, services were terminating at Priestfield, meaning that none would be able to run to The Royal, Pipers Row or Wolverhampton Station.

It also said that metro tickets were being accepted on the 79 bus between Priestfield and Wolverhampton bus station.

A spokesman for West Midlands Metro said: "Due to a road traffic collision on the Bilston Road, trams are unable to run between Priestfield and Wolverhampton Station.

"Trams are running between Priestfield and Edgbaston Village only.

"Tickets accepted on National Express West Midlands 79 bus between Wolverhampton bus station and Priestfield."

The service was later confirmed as having fully reopened at 5.05pm.
