Gorsemoor Road, Cannock, has been dubbed a 'molten mess' by residents after the tarmac on their road began to melt due to the high heat over the past few days.

The frustration from residents comes after one woman claimed that she was 'almost hit by a car' when her flip-flop became glued to the floor while she crossed the road.

The molten tarmac has left residents fuming, with many demanding that action be taken to protect their vehicles, properties and safety.

Walking down the sizzling stretch of road, the damage to the residents' cars and driveways was easily visible, with tyre marks being seen to lead to and from their addresses, and their vehicle tyres being seen to be covered in grit.

'It's disgraceful'

James Hughes-Porter, a resident of the road, said: "It's disgraceful. I mean, I know the council can't plan for the change in temperature. But it's destroying our driveways and cars.

"I mean, look at the damage to some of the lovely paved drives around here. And it's hard to get off, if that sticks to your car, you have a chance of tearing the paint off."
