'All railway lines blocked' as emergency services deal with incident between Rugby and Stafford

All lines have been blocked following an incident between Rugby and Stafford where a casualty was found on the line.

London Northwestern Railway have warned of major disruptions to their services following an 'incident near the railway' between Rugby and Stafford

The rail group warned that all lines have been blocked due to the incident, with disruptions expected to clear at around 4pm.

It was later confirmed by British Transport Police that a person was declared dead at the scene near Hartshill.

Rail ticket acceptance has been organised with CrossCountry Trains between Tamworth and Birmingham

A London Northwestern Railway spokesperson said: "Due to the emergency services dealing with an incident near the railway between Rugby and Stafford, all lines are blocked. 

"Train services running through these stations may be cancelled or delayed. Disruption is expected to last until around 4pm."

The group added that road transport has been requested to shuttle between the two stations. 

The group added: "We have ticket acceptance with Cross Country between Tamworth and Birmingham. 

"Rail replacement buses have been requested to operate between Rugby and Stafford."

A spokesman for British Transport Police said: "

Police were called at around 2.10pm today (14 July) to reports of a casualty on the tracks in the Hartshill area.

"Officers responded with paramedics, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. 

"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
