Legionella bacteria found at Wolverhampton hospital during routine checks

A small trace of legionella bacteria has been discovered at a Wolverhampton hospital during routine checks at the premises.

However, bosses at the Nuffield Health site in Wood Lane, Tettenhall, insisted no cases of Legionnaires Disease had been detected as a result of the testing process which related to a water source at the private hospital. And said they had taken steps in line with its Water Safety Plan to resolve the bacteria trace.

A Nuffield Health spokesperson said: “We can confirm that no cases of Legionnaires Disease have been identified at our Wolverhampton Hospital. As part of our standard water testing, a small trace of legionella bacteria was identified.
