A teenage boy has died in a pool in Sutton Park - police update
The body of a teenage boy has been recovered from Powells Pool in Sutton Park in Birmingham
West Midlands Police officers are supporting the family of a teenage boy whose body was recovered from Powells Pool in Sutton Park yesterday evening (Thursday, July 10).
The boy went missing in the water just after 6pm. Extensive efforts by all emergency services were carried out to rescue him.
Specialist teams were deployed from West Midlands Fire Service, Ambulance Service and Birmingham City Council.
Fire service rescue crews from Bickenhill and nearby Sutton Coldfield were called to the scene.
West Midlands Fire Service confirmed they also arrived just after 6pm.
The whole of Powell's Pool was cordoned off with police tape.
Paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service said they arrived at 5.58pm. They worked alongside colleagues from other emergency services to search the water and sadly found the boy who could not be saved.
Midlands Air Ambulance also attended.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: “The body of a teenage boy has been recovered from a pool in Sutton Park, Birmingham, this evening.
"West Midlands Police are supporting the family of the boy at this tragic time.
"Extensive efforts by all emergency services were carried out following the boy going missing in the water just after 6pm.
"Specialist teams were deployed from fire and rescue, ambulance colleagues, and Birmingham City Council colleagues.
"Sadly this has resulted in the boy’s body being found and our thoughts are with his family at this time.
"His death is not being treated as suspicious at this time and we are liaising with the coroner.”
West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called to reports of a patient in the water at Sutton Park at 5.58pm yesterday. Two ambulances, two paramedic officers, the Trust’s Hazardous Area Response Team and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford attended the scene.
"Ambulance colleagues worked alongside other emergency service colleagues and Birmingham City Council to conduct a thorough search of the water. Sadly, this resulted in a teenage boy being found, who could not be saved."
