Walsall man, 38, arrested and charged with knife possession in Willenhall
A man has been arrested and charged after a stop and search in Willenhall.
West Midlands Police have announced that they have arrested and charged a man with possession of a knife in a public place after carrying out a stop-and-search in Willenhall.
Carl Talbot, aged 38, from Walsall, was remanded to appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court today (Thursday) for a first hearing.
He is charged with possession of a bladed article in a public place.
The charge comes after Talbot was arrested on Wednesday morning on Stafford Street as part of a Safer Streets Summer operation in Willenhall town centre, where officers carried out patrols and supported local businesses.
Sergeant Paul Smith, Willenhall neighbourhood policing supervisor, said: "We will be carrying out a number of operations over the summer where we target retail crime and anti-social behaviour in Willenhall town centre.
"We are there to support our local businesses and to make the town a safe place for visitors."
The operation is part of a national initiative running in town centres and high streets across the UK, focusing on anti-social behaviour, retail and street crime.
