Wolverhampton young disability group celebrate year of partnership improving the city
Wolverhampton’s young disabled community has celebrated a year of partnership and helping the city become a more inclusive place.
Wolverhampton's 'HY5! Youth Forum have welcomed the council's SEND and Inclusion Partnership Board to celebrate a year of shared achievements and 'meaningful' collaboration.
The celebration event brought together young people with special needs or disabilities (SEND) to celebrate their proudest moments and showcase the positive changes they’ve helped shape over the last year.

The event showcased the work and achievements of members of the HY5! group, along with the ambassadors from Broadmeadow Special School, have been doing over the past year, such as helping to create accessible and inclusive spaces for those living with disabilities.
Councillor Jacqui Coogan, cabinet member for children, young people and education for Wolverhampton Council, said: “HY5! Is more than a forum – it's a movement led by young people with SEND”
She added: “Their passion, insight and courage is helping to shape a city where every young person- regardless of ability- can thrive.”
“By working in co-production with strategic colleagues, we are able to make changes where it matters most.”
The HY5! group meets fortnightly with the aim of creating a better future for young people by working together to make much-needed changes by sharing their thoughts with those who are best suited to help.
Councillor Coogan added: “The event was a chance to reflect on these achievements, strengthen partnerships and look ahead to the next chapter of youth-led change in Wolverhampton.”
