Police were called after a 14-year-old boy, who was with a 25-year-old man, reported being threatened with a knife, while cycling along New Street at around 6.15pm. They were unharmed but forced to hand over the boy’s electric mountain bike.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "Tackling violent crime and robbery remain priorities for us in Wolverhampton and we are working hard to identify those who possess or carry weapons.

"A national knife surrender is currently running ahead of new legislation, known as Ronan’s Law, coming into force on August 1 which will ban the sale and possession of ninja swords.
