Police seeking driver of car which hit four-year-old boy in Smethwick and did not stop

A police investigation is underway after a four-year-old boy was struck by a car which did not stop.

Police said the child was was left with serious injuries after the incident, which happened in in Talbot Road in Smethwick at around 7.15pm on May 25.

Now officers have launched a public appeal asking the driver of the dark-coloured vehicle thought to have been involved to come forward.

The youngster was taken to hospital with serious injuries and is continuing to recover.

Meanwhile officers have been making inquiries, but said they also need the public's help to identify the person who was behind the wheel.

Pc Joshua Travis, from West Midlands Police's traffic investigation team, said: "The car is described as being dark-coloured. We are asking the driver of the car to do the right thing and get in touch with us."

Witnesses or anyone with information about suspicious activity relating to a car around the time in question should contact the team by phoning 101 quoting incident log 4106 of May 25.
