Motorcyclist airlifted to hospital with serious head injuries after crash near Cannock Chase - man arrested

A motorcyclist suffered serious injuries when he was involved in a collision with a car near Cannock Chase.

The rider, in his 20s, was airlifted to hospital with serious head, face and torso injuries after the crash with a car in Penkridge Bank Road, at the junction with Marquis Drive west of Rugeley, at about 5.15pm on Friday, July 4.

Staffordshire Police said the injured man remains in a stable condition in hospital and officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

The car involved was believed to be a black Volkswagen Golf which left the scene and was driven towards Cannock. However, a short time later a man handed himself in to police.

Since then a 41-year-old man, from the Cannock area, has been arrested on suspicion of failure to stop at the scene of a collision.

The force said: "He is due to be interviewed in connection with the collision later this week."
