'I'm stepping out from my job at West Midlands Ambulance to sing my own song at a summer music festival which I hope will inspire others'
A West Midlands Ambulance Service control room dispatcher with a passion for singing will be stepping on stage for his first ever live concert performance this month.
Aaron Wilkes first made headlines in September last year with the release of a debut track ‘Stand Together’, an uplifting anthem about unity, resilience and hope.
Written, composed and performed entirely by the 38-year-old from Stafford, the song was born from a difficult year of personal challenges and quickly led to him writing a follow up song in December called ‘The Adventure’.
Aaron is now set to bring that same energy to a live audience on Saturday, July 19 at Field Fest 2025 in Burton-on-Trent where he’ll be performing his first two songs as well as new material to raise money for The Midlands Air Ambulance Charity and The Ambulance Staff Charity, which Aaron has already pledged 100 per cent of all royalties from songs he releases.
Aaron has worked for West Midlands Ambulance Service for 18 years, balancing a high-pressure emergency control room role with his deep passion for music.
He said that what began as a private outlet for managing his own mental health challenges has evolved into a mission to inspire and help others through both his lyrics and his charitable efforts.
Aaron said: “This journey has been overwhelming in the best way possible.
“I never imagined releasing songs, let alone performing it live.
"But music has helped me heal, and I hope by sharing it more openly, it can do the same for others.”
