Following its recent triumph at the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence, the Black Country Living Museum is inviting visitors to a Celebration Weekend on Saturday, July 5 and Sunday, July 6, filled with summer fun, freebies, and a whole lot of bostin’ Black Country spirit.

The Museum was recently recognised as Large Visitor Attraction of the Year, beating out national favourites like Liverpool Football Club Tours & Experiences and the National Space Centre and is putting on two days of family-friendly activities and surprises to say thank you to its visitors, staff, and community.

Highlights of the Celebration Weekend include being able to cool down with a free Marshfield’s Farm ice cream topped with a BCLM wafer, taking a spin on the vintage fairground, with one free ride per child and joining the lively Gamesmaster in Folkes Park for classic sports day fun.

Visitors can also step into Audree's School of Dance and have a go at some dances through the decades with the historical dance teacher, meet costumed historic characters, enjoy live heritage demonstrations, and take part in hands-on activities across the Museum’s immersive open-air site.

There will also be the opportunity to explore their newly expanded 1940s to 1960s town, where stories from living memory come to life for an interactive experience.

Deputy Chief Executive David Middlemiss said: “This award is a huge honour, and this weekend is our way of celebrating with the people who made it possible,.

“If you’re proud of the Black Country, and we know you are, come and be part of the celebrations.

"Bring the family, bring your mates, and let’s show everyone why our region really is the best in the land.”
