West Midlands Roads has warned of 'major disruption' following a collision that has forced a road to close in Perry Barr

The A453 Aldridge Road northbound has been forced to close after the Holford Drive junction following a collision at around 8.22am this morning.

The collision has led to heavy congestion in the region, with roads watchdog, West Midlands Roads, warning to 'expect delays'.

The group announced on X: "A453 Aldridge road northbound, after Holford Drive, Perry Barr. 

"Road closed, collision, expect delays. Traffic is already heavily congested in the area."

Six bus services have also been diverted due to the incident, with National Express West Midlands apologising for any inconvenience caused.

The group said on X: "Due to an emergency service lead incident at Aldridge Road, Perry Barr, 33, 907, 936, 937, 997 and 998 diverting from Birmingham only via: Walsall Road and Church Lane. 

"We apologise for any disruption to your journey."
