Woman found dead in Birmingham suffered serious head injuries - man arrested on suspicion of murder
A murder probe has been launched after a woman found at a house near Smethwick.
West Midlands Police said the body of 46-yer-old Irene Mbugua was found at the house in Markby Road, Winson Green, shortly before 1am on June 23 and a post-mortem revealed she died as a result of serious head and face injuries.
The force said her family were being supported by specialist officers.
Her children have today paid tribute to her stating: "It’s so sad that you got snatched from us in such a cruel manner.

"We are so lost without you and we pray for grace to face each day Mum, your beautiful smile and hearty laughter will be missed.
"Please just remind us on how to join the dots because we don’t have a map yet. Rest easy you remain in our hearts forever.”
The force added that a man, aged in his 30s, had since been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.
It added that inquiries were continuing, but detectives were not looking for anyone else in connection with their investigation.
