Woman taken to hospital after car and National Express West Midlans bus crash on Cradley Heath road

A woman was taken to hospital after a crash involving a car and National Express West Midlands bus on a Cradley Heath road.

The collision involving a National Express West Midlands bus took place on Halesowen Road, near to its junction with Spring Meadow, in Old Hill on Tuesday (June 24).

One woman was taken to hospital with injuries which were not thought to be serious, West Midlands Police said.

The road was blocked as a result of the crash and remained closed for around two hours.

A police spokesman said: "We were called to a collision between a bus and a car at the junction of Halesowen Road and Spring Meadow Road, Cradley Heath, at just after 5pm.

"Officers attended alongside colleagues from the fire and ambulance services as the road was blocked.

"One woman was taken to hospital with injuries which are not believed to be serious. The two drivers involved have been spoken with by officers and the road was reopened at just after 7pm.

"Anyone with information can contact us on 101, quoting log 4579 of June 24."

Fire crews were called to the scene of the crash shortly before 5.25pm.

A West Midlands Fire Service spokesman said: "This was a collision between a car and a bus. Both vehicles came to rest on four wheels on the road.

"The driver of the car is believed to have been conveyed to Russell Halls hospital for precautionary checks. There were no reports of any other casualties.

"We left this incident at 6.20pm, with police colleagues arranging vehicle recovery."

National Express West Midlands confirmed one of its vehicles running the X10 service, which travels between Gornal Wood and Birmingham, was involved in the crash.

A spokeswoman for the regional bus operation said: "One of our vehicles operating the X10 service was involved in an incident in Old Hill, Cradley Heath yesterday evening (Tuesday). 

"Emergency services attended the scene and we will continue to provide any assistance as needed."
