Cash stolen during break-in at Stourbridge cash point by 'number of people in masks' who left scene in Audi

A cash machine at a Stourbridge bank was broken into in the early-hours with cash stolen.

Police believe masked offenders were behind the incident which took place at Santander on the town's High Street just before 3am on Wednesday (June 25).

The suspects are thought to have used cutting equipment before making off from the scene in a black Audi.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "We're investigating after a cash machine was broken into and money stolen from Santander on Stourbridge High Street.

"It's believed a number of masked people used cutting equipment before making off in a black Audi, just before 3am.

"We are carrying out a number of enquiries and would appeal for anyone with information to get in touch on 101 quoting 20/286284/25."

Santander confirmed the branch was temporarily closed as a result of the incident but said it has since reopened.

A spokesperson for the bank said: "Following an incident that took place in the early hours of Wednesday morning, our Stourbridge Branch is now open, after being temporarily closed for investigation. 

"We are working closely with police to ensure that our staff and our customers are safe and will provide further updates on the situation as we receive more information. 

“In the meantime, our priority is to ensure minimum disruption for our customers, therefore the branch will remain open today - Wednesday June 25 - until 4pm (one hour later than our standard closure time) to continue to support customers.”
