Investigation launched as more than 50 firefighters tackle Jaguar Land Rover blaze in Birmingham

More than 50 firefighters have tackled a blaze at the Jaguar Land Rover building in Birmingham.

Emergency services rushed to the scene of Chester Road in the Castle Vale area of Birmingham at around 8.15am on Tuesday to reports of a blaze in the road. 

Eight West Midlands Fire Service fire engines were initially sent to the Jaguar Land Rover building, with three 4x4 brigade response vehicles and a hydraulic aerial platform also attending. 

The fire was confirmed to have been doused at around 9.30am, with firefighters remaining at the scene to check for hotspots.

Resources to the blaze were scaled down as of 11.10am, however, a probe into the cause of the fire has now been launched, with fire investigators attending the scene. 

A West Midlands Fire Service spokesperson said: "Shortly before 8.15am on Tuesday (24 June), we responded to Chester Road in the Castle Vale area of Birmingham. 

"This is a fire at a vehicle manufacturing plant. Crews wearing breathing apparatus are tackling the fire. Fire Investigators are in attendance."

West Midlands Ambulance Service also attended the scene to support fire colleagues while they tackled the blaze.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We currently have a paramedic officer standing by supporting fire colleagues at a building fire on Chester Road, Castle Vale.

"There are no patients."

The smoke was reported as being seen from miles away, with Jaguar Land Rover saying that 'the incident was resolved quickly' with 'no injuries being reported'.

A Jaguar Land Rover spokesperson said: "West Midlands Fire Service attended a fire in a block at our Castle Bromwich site this morning. 

"The incident was resolved quickly with no reported injuries. Fire teams remain at the scene to support investigations."

The investigation continues.
