Disruption expected as gas and water works to start in Sandwell
Drivers and residents across parts of Sandwell have been warned to expect disruption as gas and water works take place.
Sandwell Council has put out a message to inform the public of the roadworks, which will take place in Tipton, Oldbury, West Bromwich and Rowley Regis next week and are in place for work by Cadent Gas and Severn Trent Water.
The first set of works will take place on Newhall Road in Rowley Regis on Monday, June 23 to facilitate access for remedial works by Trinity on behalf of Cadent Gas and will see traffic prohibited from proceeding along Newhall Road, which will be closed from its junction with Bell End to the western boundary of property number 90.
A traffic diversion route will be signed for the Newhall Road closure via Bell End, Rowley Village, Church Road, Hanover Road, Church Road and vice versa, with the work expected to take around 24 hours.
The next set of works will also take place on Monday on Factory Road in Tipton to facilitate access for remedial works by Fincher Utilities Limited on behalf of Cadent and will see traffic prohibited from proceeding along Factory Road, which will be closed from its junction with Owen Street to the northern boundary line of property number 69.
A traffic diversion route will be signed for the Factory Road closure via Owen Street, Sedgley Road West, Hurst Road and vice versa, with the work expected to be completed by July 11.
In addition, there will be two-way temporary traffic signals in operation on Owen Street at the junction of Factory Road for the duration of the Factory Road closure.
Another set of works will take place in Tipton on Monday on Railway Street to facilitate access for the construction of a new turning head by Midland Metro Alliance and will see traffic prohibited from proceeding along Railway Street, which will be closed one-way in a north westerly direction from outside the Energy Training Hub to the junction of Horseley Road.
A traffic diversion route will be signed via Horseley Heath and Horseley Road and work is expected to be completed by July 13.
Finally, works will be taking place on Lambert End in West Bromwich, starting on Wednesday, June 25, to facilitate access for relocation works by Onsite on behalf of Severn Trent Water and will see traffic prohibited from proceeding along Lambert End, which will be closed from its junction with Wood Lane to the northern boundary of property number 3.
A traffic diversion route will be signed for the Lambert End closure via Wood Lane, Oak Lane, Dartmouth Street, Lambert Street, Harwood Street and vice versa, with the work expected to be completed by Friday, June 27.
