Group engage in reunion to help raise cash for Wolverhampton charity
A reunion of a group known as 'The Telephone Girls' in Codsall rang up £450 for a much loved charity.
The group, who are all former employees of the Wolverhampton Telephone Exchange which closed in 1992, enjoyed afternoon tea at The Firs and reminisced whilst raising money for the JW Hunt Cup.
Organiser of the event Sylvia Enefer worked at the exchanged from 1959-1972 and is on the JW Hunt Cup committee - the football competition is in its 99th year and has raised thousands for the Sedgley based Beacon Centre for the Blind.
"We have been having reunions for many years but the last two times we decided to raise money for the blind and partially sighted via the Hunt Cup.
"I worked at the exchange for 13 years but many of the telephone girls here today worked there much longer.
"It's always lovely to meet again and share memories of some very good times and The Firs very kindly donated the use of the room as the event was for charity so thank you to them and everyone who turned out."
