Sawn-off shotgun and rifle recovered from Wolverhampton house and two men arrested

Two men were arrested and two firearms seized after a police search of a house in Wolverhampton.

Officers from West Midlands Police acted on information gathered from an investigation by the force's Regional Organised Crime Unit (ROCU) and searched the house on Tettenhall Road in Wolverhampton on Wednesday.

The two guns, a sawn-off shotgun and a rifle, were discovered in a car outside the house alongside ammunition, with a 19-year-old and a 20-year-old man being arrested at the scene.

Officers at the scene also found large amount of equipment, including scales, presses and mobile phones, inside the house.

The force confirmed that two men have been bailed while enquiries continued.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "Two men have been arrested and two firearms seized from an address in Wolverhampton.

"Searches were carried out at an address in Tettenhall Road, where officers found a sawn-off shotgun and a rifle being stored in a car outside.

"Two men were arrested from the premises and a large amount of equipment including scales, presses and mobile phones were found inside.

"Ammunition for both the shotgun and the rifle were found inside the car.

"The two men arrested, aged 19 and 20, have been bailed while our enquiries continue.

"The investigation is led by West Midlands Regional Organised Crime Unit and is part of Operation Target.

"Our teams across the West Midlands are continuing their efforts against serious and organised crime.

"Every day we carry out warrants and operations aimed at taking weapons like these and the people who carry them off the streets.

"Under Operation Target, teams from West Midlands Police and colleagues from ROCU are working round the clock to take action against everything from firearms and drugs to modern-day slavery and financial crime."
