The sun was shining as the gates were officially opened to Together Festival at midday on Saturday (June 14).

The event, which ran until 7pm, was organised with the help of Love Black Country, an organisation made up of churches and church leaders from across the region.

Festival manager Phil Walker said: "It was absolutely superb. The turnout and the event was beyond our wildest expectations. We sold about 2,000 in advance and many, many other people turned up on the day and paid on the gate. We're tallying up how many actually came.

"The weather was also superb and the rain held off the whole time.

"We've had brilliant feedback from the different zones and vendors as well. The outcome has been due to the churches of the Black Country coming together to work and support the festival.

"It's hard work to organise, but it's worthwhile."

Attractions included street food vendors, outdoor adventure sessions such as rock-climbing, bubble-making, creative workshops, prayer stations and mission stands.
