Man arrested at Birmingham Airport charged after gun and ammunition seized in Wednesbury
A man arrested at Birmingham Airport on suspicion of firearm possession has now been charged following the recovery of a firearm and ammunition from a house in Wednesbury.
West Midlands Police confirmed that Mitchell Rosamond had been charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition, having an imitation gun with intent to cause fear of violence and affray.
The 33-year-old was arrested at Birmingham Airport on Wednesday, with a house on Booth Road in Wednesbury being searched and the firearm and ammunition uncovered.
Rosamond was remanded to appear before Wolverhampton Magistrates Court on Thursday, while a 57-year-old man, who was also arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm, has been bailed pending further enquiries.
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "We've charged a man following the recovery of a converted handgun and ammunition from an address in Sandwell.
"We seized them after arresting a man from the airport and then searching an address in Booth Road, Wednesbury, yesterday.
"Mitchell Rosamond, aged 33, has now been charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition, having an imitation gun with intent to cause fear of violence and affray.
"He was remanded to appear before Wolverhampton Magistrates Court today.
"A 57-year-old man who was also arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm has been bailed pending further enquiries.
