Fire crews extinguish 'deliberate' blaze at Cannock Chase
Fire crews have extinguished a blaze at Cannock Chase which is believed to have been caused deliberately.
Firefighters were called to land off Pye Green Road, Cannock, at 11.15am on Wednesday (June 11) following reports of a fire.
Three fire engines were sent to the scene and discovered an area of grassland and woodland measuring around 110m by 50m "well alight", Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said.
The fire service said the blaze - which it described as "large" - is thought to have been caused "deliberately".

Nobody was reported injured from the fire. Fire crews left the scene just before 2pm.
Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service general manager, Dave Steele, said: “Although this fire was quickly extinguished and nobody was injured in the blaze, there could have easily been a different outcome.
“I would like to remind people of the dangers of deliberately lighting fires, especially in areas of woodland and grassland where fire can spread easily and get out of hand.”
