Councillor Mike Bird has announced his new cabinet following a sudden change in Walsall Council.
Leader of Walsall Council, Councillor Mike Bird, has announced his new cabinet after regaining control following Councillor Garry Perry's sudden exit from the role.
Councillor Bird was re-elected at the full meeting of Walsall Council on Tuesday night, which was urgently called in the wake of Councillor Garry Perry's resignation on May 21.
It will be the fifth time that Councillor Bird, now 76, has led the council since he was first elected in 1980. He resigned on June 4 last year, a month after he was suspended by the Conservative Party.
Announcing the new cabinet, Leader of Walsall Council, Councillor Mike Bird said: "This new administration will work together to improve outcomes for the residents of Walsall.
“We will do what is right for the borough, and for the residents and businesses we serve."
The new cabinet will see Councillor Adrian Andrew resume his role as deputy leader of the council, and also the portfolio holder for prosperous places and investments.
